Sanni took over from Prof. Abdulateef Usman, who acted as the vice-chancellor after the expiration of the tenure of the last substantive VC.

Sanni, who is a former Dean, Student Affairs and Faculty of Arts, Lagos State University, promised at a press conference in Osogbo on Tuesday to carry out changes, which would push the university up, and that he would be a team player.

Apart form the VC, the new registrar of the university, Mrs. Kikelomo Sallee, who is the Chief Administrative Officer of the university owned by NASFAT, is a former Deputy Registrar at the University of Ilorin.

The university has also appointed a substantive bursar in the person of Mrs. Silifat Ali-Balogun, who was has been in acting capacity until her recent appointment.

The Governing Council of the university also appointed Dr. Abdusalam Salman as the acting librarian, While Engr. Abdulsemiu Odenike was appointed as the acting director of the physical planning unit.

The vice-chancellor, who has since resumed work, promised to redesign the curricular of some programmes in order to make the institution’s graduates solutions to the problems confronting mankind.

He said, “There are course for which students have to go on industrial attachment and training to enable them have practical experience of what they are being trained to do. We want to extend this to other courses so that the students will be able to practice whatever they learn.

If you are being trained as a political scientist, you can be posted to the House of Assembly or any place where you can learn and practice what are being taught.”

To further improve the lecturers, Sanni stated that they are being sponsored in foreign universities for their PhD programmes, while some were undertaking their programmes in Nigerian universities.
