The 14th Convocation Ceremonies of Fountain University which held between Wednesday, January 8th through Tuesday, January 14th, was a grand affair that showcased the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and community development.
A total of 346 graduates were conferred with various degrees and diplomas, including 3 in Arabic, Islamic, and International Studies, 316 first degrees, and 27 higher degrees. The first-degree graduands achieved impressive results, with 16 securing First-Class Honours, 105 earning Second-Class Upper Division, 120 securing Second-Class Lower Division, and 38 attaining Third-Class degrees.
The ceremony was attended by prominent individuals, including the Mutawale of Ilorin, Dr. Alimi Abdrazaq, who chaired the grand event where two academic buildings and three student hostels donated by 5 prominent individuals were commissioned. The 11th Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole, delivered the Convocation Lecture titled “Faith-Based Universities as Catalyst for Ethical Leadership and National Transformation”, which was chaired by the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Usman Ododo. The duo later joined the University in the commissioning of another state-of-the-art academic building donated by Chief Kola Karim of Shorelines Energy Limited.
The grand finale of the ceremony was chaired by the Chancellor of the University, Dr. Umar Mutallab, CON, represented by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olayinka Karim. The event was also graced by prominent people from the Board of Trustees of the university’s parent body, NASFAT, led by the Chairman Alh. Abdulateef Olawale Olasupo, as well as the NASFAT Executive led by the President, Alh. Ayodeji AbdulWahid Abdurauf, the NASFAT National Council of Elders led by the chairman, Alh. Yunus Olalekan Saliu, the Board of Trustees of Fountain University led by the Chairman, Prof. (Mallam) Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, the Governing Council of the University led by the Pro-Chancellor and the Chairman, Dr. AWA Ibraheem, FCA, Traditional rulers among other eminent personalities.
The ceremony was a celebration of academic achievements, community development, and the university’s commitment to nurturing intellectual growth and building innovative minds. It was a momentous occasion that showcased the university’s progress and milestones, including the graduation of its pioneer students from the Nursing Science and Medical Laboratory Science programs, who recorded an impressive 100% pass rate in their professional examinations.
The 14th Convocation Ceremonies of Fountain University is yet another proof of the institution’s dedication to academic excellence, community development, and faith-based education. It was a grand affair that brought together prominent individuals, academics, and community leaders to celebrate the achievements of the university’s graduates and the progress of the institution as a whole.
