Fountain University in collaboration with Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) organized a 2-day summit for NASFAT Education Secretaries between February 28 and March 1 in Fountain University, Osogbo.

The summit which aimed at sensitizing the Education Secretaries on quality assurance in NASFAT Model Schools also focused on the roles of the education secretaries in engendering development to Fountain University.

The Chairman Admissions Committee, Prof. AbdulLateef Usman, who spoke on the topic “Fountain University and NASFAT: Partnership in Mission and Vision Actualization”, said the relationship between NASFAT Education Secretaries should be more harmonious to drive greater enrolment and development of the university.

Prof. Usman stressed that since Fountain University is a baby of NASFAT, it is incumbent on the members to deliberately nurture and grow the institution to an enviable height, adding that the Management of the University cannot do it alone.

He said: Let us join hands together to make Fountain University, the most preferred university in Nigeria. We cannot do it alone. That is why we are seeking your cooperation to make Fountain University as an Islamic faith-oriented university a pride of Islam and the entire nation.

The Vice Chancellor, Alhikmah University, Ilorin, Prof. Ibraheem Taofeek in his presentation, titled: Challenges of Faith-oriented Universities: Ownership, Financing and Social Perspectives, called on the Federal government to assist private universities in Nigeria with Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) saying the fund belong to all universities and not for public universities alone.

Prof. Taofeek said alternative funding is very essential for the development of private universities, which is the reason the university management, staff and NASFAT as the proprietor need to come together to chart a way forward on the funding.

At the end of the summit, a syndicated session of four different groups emerged and a communique was issued on the growth and development of the university, especially as it relates to enrolment drive of the university.

Other at the summit included the Vice-Chancellor, Fountain University, Prof. Amidu Sanni, National Education Secretary, Dr. Rahmat Adetutu Adisa, Guest Speaker, Alhaja Muibat Afolabi, Guest Speaker, Dr. Nimotallahi Moromoke Raji, Bursar, Mrs. Silifat Alli-Balogun, Registrar, Dr. Kikelomo Sallee, represented by the Deputy Registrar, Mr. Sheriff Adenekan, among others.
