It was indeed a day to remember as the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III on Thursday, February 13th 2020 commissioned the newly completed ultramodern University Central Mosque in Fountain University, Osogbo.

The multimillion Naira mosque, endowed by Dr. AWA Ibraheem has provisions for library, Administrative and Consultation rooms for Imams, Conference rooms, Janaza (ritual washing for the dead) room, Quran memorization unit, amongst others.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Amidu Sanni in his opening remarks, appreciated the donor for his kind gesture as well as the duo of former ProChancellor and Vice-Chancellor, Prof Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede and Prof. Bashir Ademola Raji respectively for the roles played towards building the mosque.

Prof. Sanni enjoined other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the donor in contributing towards the cause of Islam and humanity in general, adding that the donor’s reward for building a mosque is a house in paradise as stipulated in the Holy Quran.

He commended the wife of the donor, Hajia Moji Kudirat AWA-Ibraheem for not only encouraging his husband (donor) to complete the mosque project in good time, but also donated exquisite prayer rug for the over 2000 capacity mosque.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) Registrar and former Pro-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, who spoke on the brief history of the mosque, explained that the idea of a befitting mosque for the university started like a joke and to the glory of God, it has been completed and commissioned for the use of the university.

“The whole thing started like a joke with Dr. AWA Ibraheem before he finally agreed to build the mosque. I am very happy that all of us including the Sultan of Sokoto, who led the foundation laying ceremony of the mosque 4 years ago are here today to witness the commissioning of the mosque.”

“All I can say is to thank Allah for His mercy and also thank Dr. AWA Ibraheem for his benevolence. The mosque as we can all see is truly an ultramodern mosque with multipurpose functions. May Almighty Allah continue to enrich the donor and preserve his life for greater things in the cause of Islam and humanity,” he prayed.

Governor, State of Osun, Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola in his goodwill message expressed his joy to be part of the celebration, saying the donor has sown a seed of immeasurable benefit, while urging the University Management to take proper care of the mosque.
