NYSC Honours Vice Chancellor, Others for Exceptional Welfare of FUO Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Osogbo Local Government Office in partnership with the serving Corps members at the Fountain University, Osogbo has honoured the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar and the officer in-Charge of the NYSC affairs in the institution, Mr Tajudeen Adegboyega Oyedeji with a meritorious service award for exceptional welfare packages for corps members serving in the University.

The award which was organised by the serving Corps members in the University was presented during the specially organised visit of the Osogbo Local Government Inspector of the NYSC at the Vice-Chancellor's office.

Representing the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Kubiangha Ekeng Ita at the brief event, the Osogbo Local Government Inspector, Mrs Tawa Jimoh, lauded the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayinka Ramota Karim for her exemplary commitment to the welfare of corps members posted to the University. She noted that Fountain University Osogbo has been one of the dependable employers in the State which has consistently prioritized the welfare of the Corps members posted to the institution. She thanked the Management of the University for the upward review of the monthly allowance of the Corps which she described as unprecedented in the history of the University.

In her remarks, Professor Karim expressed deep appreciation to NYSC for the consistent deployment of corps members to the University and also for being a partner in progress. She described the present Corps members in the University as wonderful and fantastic young Nigerians who have also contributed and part of the Fountain University success story in the recent time.

“I want to thank the NYSC management for their partnership with the University and for sending highly committed corps members who have proven to be assets to the University in their areas of their engagements,” She said.

She also recounted several gestures towards corps members, including the payment of twenty thousand naira Ramadan packages, payment of another twenty thousand as parting gifts after the completion of their national service and offering automatic employment for two of the Corps members who have just completed their service.

The Registrar of the University, Mr Adenekan Sheriff assured that the University Management remains fully committed to the ideals of the NYSC scheme and will do everything humanly possible to make their service year experience memorable.

Also speaking, the officer in-Charge of the NYSC affairs in the University, Mr. Tajudeen Adegboyega Oyedeji, stressed that corps members, being mostly non-indigenes, deserve exceptional hospitality and support from host communities and employers alike to enhance their contributions to national and state development and therefore reiterate the commitment of the University Management to their welfare and safety at all times. He thanked the leadership of the Corps members for bestowing on him an award of meritorious service.

The brief event which was held in the Vice-Chancellor's office was well-attended by the principal officers and members of the University Management team.
