The Vice Chancellor

PROF. OLAYINKA RAMOTA KARIM

Olayinka Ramota Karim is a Professor of Food Science and Technology. She obtained B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Food Science and Technology in 1992 from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. She later acquired an M.Sc. degree from the University of Ibadan, in 1995; and a Ph.D. degree from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, as the first Ph.D. graduate of the Department of Food Science and Technology in 2005. In addition, she had a Diploma in Agribusiness and Post-harvest Management (Israel) in 2015, and Certificates in Inter-religious Dialogue, Conflict Transformation, and Mediation (Abuja) in 2019.

Professor Karim has proudly offered over 25 years of enviable teaching, research, community service, and consulting in Food Science and Technology and to humanity. She has reviewed articles for many reputable journals and served as an external examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in several universities. She has also served as the external assessor of professorial candidates in several universities.

 
 
 

As a versatile researcher, she won several awards for research, training, and attendance of conferences from different bodies such as the TETFund Institution-Based Research; Unilorin Laboratory to Product; N.G. Patel, India; Global Affairs Canada; Action Aid Nigeria; African Union Development Agency-New Partnership for African Development and Dutch Ministry, Netherlands. Professor Karim has to her credit over 195 publications and presentations. She also presented 29 keynotes, lead papers, public lectures, and 43 articles at sixty national and international conferences and workshops in over twelve countries.
As a quintessential woman of great virtues and capacities, she contributed to national cohesion in different capacities as a religious group leader, sport lady, community developer.

She obliged the nation in many capacities as a Member of the National Call Group and Supervisor UTME/JAMB Examination and Moderator of test items for JAMB; Supervisor of the JUPEB Examination; Chairman and Member of the National Universities Commission and National Board for Technical Education teams for accreditation and resources verification of programmes. Her services to the community have won her over 35 distinguished awards and honours.
She is happily married to Dr. Adegboyega Karim.
Professor Karim assumed duty as the 4th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution on the 1st of March, 2023. She is unswervingly committed to supporting, sustaining, and advancing the vision of FUO in the next four years.
