Biography

Sirajudeen Femi Bakrin, PhD, CLN, is an eminent Nigerian academic, information scientist, and certified librarian. He currently serves as the Deputy University Librarian of Fountain University in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. In tandem with his executive administrative duties, he is a deeply respected community leader, serving as the university community's Chief Imam. With over two decades of experience in higher education library networks, Dr Bakrin is recognised across West African academic circles for his research on virtual librarianship, institutional repositories, and open-access educational development.

Professional Career & Leadership

Dr Bakrin has spent the majority of his professional career anchoring the library infrastructure at Fountain University, Osogbo. Rising through the ranks over fourteen years of dedicated service, his career trajectory includes:

  • Librarian II : Initiated formal service within the university library system.
  • Librarian I: Managed core operational, cataloguing, and electronic units.
  • Senior Librarian: Supervised complex library collections and specialised information systems.
  • Principal Librarian: Appointed to upper-tier management to drive technological updates across the library network.
  • Deputy University Librarian: Currently overseeing strategic library development, digital resource integration, and academic liaison programs.

Dr Bakrin's research focuses primarily on modernising libraries to survive and thrive in the internet age. His core specialisations include Electronic/Virtual Librarianship, Cloud Computing Adoption, and Institutional Repositories.
