The Fountain University Staff Football Team delivered an impressive performance to earn a thrilling 3-3 draw against the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) Staff Football Team in the ceremonial match organised to commission the newly constructed UNIOSUN Sports Stadium.
The historic event attracted several dignitaries, including the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, alongside government officials, university administrators and members of the academic community, who witnessed both the commissioning of the stadium and the symbolic kickoff.
Fountain University made history by scoring the first-ever goal on the newly commissioned pitch, setting the tone for an entertaining contest. The visitors displayed resilience and attacking flair throughout the encounter, matching their hosts goal for goal in a pulsating six-goal affair that ended 3-3.
Reacting to the team's impressive outing, the Vice-Chancellor of Fountain University, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, congratulated the players for their resilience, discipline and outstanding representation of the University. She described the performance as a reflection of the institution's commitment to excellence beyond the classroom and reaffirmed the University's continued support for sporting activities that promote unity, wellness and institutional visibility.
