FUO Appoints Akanbi as New Director of Works and Physical Planning

The appointment, which followed a rigorous and competitive selection process, was approved by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. AWA Ibraheem, FCA, in line with the University's commitment to strengthening its administrative and infrastructural leadership.
Engineer Akanbi brings over two decades of professional experience in engineering, construction, and facilities management to his new role. Prior to his appointment, he served as Chief Engineer at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), a position he held since 2021, where he played key roles in the planning, execution, and maintenance of major infrastructural projects.
A highly accomplished professional, Engineer Akanbi holds a Master's degree in Facility Management, a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering, as well as a National Technical Certificate. He is a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), Nigeria Chapter.
His wealth of experience includes the successful management of large-scale construction projects, including several Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund)-supported interventions, as well as institutional facility planning and maintenance. These experiences are expected to further strengthen Fountain University's ongoing drive toward sustainable infrastructure development and the provision of a world-class learning environment.
Announcing the appointment, the Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, Mr. Sheriff Adenekan, noted that the University is confident in Engineer Akanbi's capacity to provide strategic leadership for the Works and Physical Planning Unit.
According to the Registrar, the new Director is expected to deploy his vast technical expertise in driving the planning, development, maintenance, and modernization of the University's physical infrastructure in line with its vision of academic excellence and institutional growth.
The appointment comes at a period of sustained infrastructural expansion at Fountain University, with several landmark projects recently completed or underway, including the commissioning of the University's ICT Hub, the dedicated Medical Laboratory Science Laboratory Complex, and the establishment of Fountain Radio 94.9 FM, among other transformative developments.
The Governing Council and Management expressed confidence that Engineer Akanbi's experience and leadership would significantly contribute to sustaining the University's infrastructure development agenda and enhancing the quality of facilities available to staff and students.
A native of Igboho in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, Engineer Akanbi is happily married and widely respected for his professionalism, technical competence, and commitment to excellence.
The University community has warmly welcomed the new Director and expressed optimism that his appointment will further consolidate Fountain University's reputation as one of Nigeria's fastest-growing private universities, renowned for its commitment to quality education, innovation, and a conducive learning environment.
