Fountain University, Osogbo, has recorded another significant milestone in its pursuit of academic excellence and experiential learning with the official unveiling of Fountain Radio 94.9 FM, the University's training radio station for the Department of Mass Communication.

The unveiling, which took place at a brief but colourful ceremony on campus, marks the realization of a long-held vision that has been in the pipeline since the inception of the Department. The station is expected to provide students with hands-on broadcasting experience while serving as a platform for knowledge dissemination, community engagement, and value-driven programming.

Performing the unveiling, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayinka Ramota Karim, described the commissioning of the station as the beginning of a new era in the University's commitment to practical education, innovation, and societal impact.

"A new voice, a new platform, a new era!" the Vice-Chancellor declared as she formally unveiled the station.

According to Professor Karim, Fountain Radio 94.9 FM represents another bold step in strengthening the University's academic offerings through practical learning and industry-relevant training.

"As the voice of Fountain University, Fountain Radio 94.9 FM will serve as a hub for knowledge dissemination, creativity, character development, entrepreneurship, and societal impact," she said.

She expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the successful realization of the project and appreciated the Governing Council, the University Management, members of staff, students, and other stakeholders whose support and commitment made the vision a reality.

Professor Karim noted that with the establishment of the training station, Fountain University has further expanded its frontiers in teaching, research, innovation, and community service while continuing to build graduates equipped for global leadership.

As part of the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor also announced the constitution of a seven-member Governing Board for Fountain Radio 94.9 FM, with the Dean of the College of Law, Professor Kazeem Olaniyan, appointed as Chairman. The Board is expected to provide strategic oversight and ensure that the station operates in line with professional broadcasting standards and the University's vision.

The realization of the project is particularly significant for the Department of Mass Communication, where students have long anticipated the availability of a functional training station to complement classroom instruction. The station is expected to provide practical exposure in radio presentation, news writing, production, programming, advertising, digital broadcasting, and other core areas of broadcast journalism.

The Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Sanni Azeez, who supervised the establishment of the station, expressed delight at the successful completion of the project, describing it as a transformative development for communication education at Fountain University.

The ceremony was attended by the Dean of the College of Management and Social Sciences, Dr. Raheemat Adeniran, alongside other Deans of Colleges, members of the University Management, faculty members of the Department of Mass Communication, staff, and students, all of whom witnessed what many described as a historic moment in the University's academic journey.

The commissioning of Fountain Radio 94.9 FM adds to the growing list of transformational projects undertaken under the current administration and further underscores Fountain University's commitment to producing industry-ready graduates through a blend of academic excellence, innovation, and practical learning.

With the station now operational, students of Mass Communication are poised to gain invaluable real-world broadcasting experience while the University strengthens its engagement with the wider community through educational, informative, and value-driven programming.
