Welcome to the Sports Unit

As-salam alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu.

We are delighted to have you join us on our journey to promote sports, foster mentorship, and inspire the youth in our community.

At the Sports Unit, our mission is clear: to prevent crime among students and participants at all levels while providing mentors and heroes for youth to emulate and aspire to become. We believe that sports offer more than just physical activity; they provide avenues for socialization, idea-sharing, and healthy competition. Through sports, individuals learn valuable life lessons such as teamwork, respect, accountability, and conflict resolution.

Over the past five years, Fountain University has been committed to integrating sports into our academic programs as part of our mission to provide holistic education. We have proudly organized and participated in various sporting events and competitions, showcasing the talent and dedication of our students and staff.

To cultivate a culture of excellence and integrity in sportsmanship while nurturing competent and morally upright individuals. Our mission is to produce graduates who not only excel in sports but also demonstrate high moral standards and contribute positively to society.

Vision

To be a leading sports unit that fosters holistic development and promotes the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. We envision a dynamic sports community where individuals thrive academically, athletically, and morally.

Philosophy

Our philosophy is rooted in Islamic ethics and culture, guiding us to provide a nurturing space where students of all backgrounds can thrive and excel in sports while upholding values of integrity, respect, and compassion

Achievements

The sports unit has recorded numerous successes in sports participation within and outside the university campus between 2012 and date by not letting the factors above weigh the unit down.

Successfully hosted competitions

Successful hosted and organized various completions such as Prof., Oloyede’s inter-departmental soccer competition, Vice-Chancellors inter-collegiate sports competition, Olawoore staff competition, Accenture Intercollegiate sports competition, staff management sports competition, Fountain Premier League to mention but few.

friendly football matches

The University football team had participated in various friendly football matches with neighboring Universities both public and private in which we had recorded a series of victories, this also extended to the table tennis, volleyball, and basketball teams

NPUGA 2012

University in her maiden participation in the Nigeria Private University Games (NPUGA) held at Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji in 2013, the university was placed ninth (9th) positions out of twenty-three (23) Universities with 3 gold, 5 silver, and 6 bronze medals. However, Team Fountain won the best-behaved team in this competition.

NASFAT Games

Fountain University in collaboration with NASFAT Youth Wings organized, hosted, and won the maiden edition of NASFAT Games in 2016

NPUGA 2015

Team Fountain joined the other twenty-seven private universities across the Nation to participate in the 7th edition of the Bia-annual games at Nile University, Abuja in December 2017. The team came back with 3 gold, 3 silver, and 7 bronze medals placing her in 12th position.

Lined-up sporting programme for students & staffs

Vice-Chancellor Inter-Collegiate Sports Competition

This sports competition involves seven different games participated at all levels among the students.

Staff Sports Competition

The sporting competition for the Staff involves participating in six games: Athletics, Ayo-Olopon, Badminton, Chess, Draft, Scrabble, Soccer, and Table tennis.

Fountain Premier League

This is a football competition among the students.

Friendly matches

A series of friendly matches is proposed to be played in and outside the campus among the neighboring Universities. The matches will involve both the Staff and the student teams in different games.

Nigeria Private University Games (NPUGA)

NASGA

This is a sporting competition usually organized by the Youth wing of the NASFAT in collaboration with Fountain University. The games will come up by September, at Fountain University.

Osun State Tertiary Institution Games (OSTIGA)

The university is ready for the forthcoming Speaker’s Cup. A football competition among the tertiary institutions in the State of Osun.
