Brief History of the Department

Department of Business Administration is one of the pioneers’ programmes in Fountain University in 2007 when the university started its operation and graduated the first set presented for convocation in 2011. In 2015, the National University Commission (NUC) approved the request of the University to make it an independent Department standing on its own until now.  In 2021, the department registered landmark achievements with full reaccreditation of undergraduate programme in the last National University Commission NUC exercise while another Resource Visit by the NUC for Postgraduate programmes in Master of Business Administration and Postgraduate Diploma was successful which earned the department the access for the commencement of the programmes which attract an experience and executive students across field of life.  Currently Dr Akeem Adewale BAKARE took over the mantle of leadership as Head of the Department for 2021/2022 Academic session, he is one of the top notches in management with credible experience in university administration.

Philosophy

The department of Business Administration offers courses leading to the award of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Degree in Business Administration, which may be awarded with Honours or as a pass degree. The philosophy and mission statements underlying the Business Administration programme is to produce graduates equipped with critical skills and abilities to abstract using simple business models that identify the essence of a problem; analyse and reasons – both deductively and inductively; marshal evidence, assimilate structure and analyze qualitative and quantitative data; communicate concisely the results to a wide audience, including those with no training in Business Administration; think critically about the limits of one’s analysis in a broader socio-economic context, and draw economic policy inferences and to recognize the potential constraints in their implementation

Admission and Graduation Requirements

Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

Candidates for admission into four-year degree in Business Administration should possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate, General Certificate of Education, NECO or their equivalents with at least five credit passes, at not more than two sittings including Mathematics, English Language, Commerce and Economics. In addition, candidates must have acceptable passes in UME.

UTME Subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Economics and one other subject chosen from Government, Geography, Commerce and Principles of Accounts

Direct Entry

Candidates for Direct Entry admission shall possess five Credits in GCE, SSCE, NECO, or an acceptable grade at the Fountain University Degree Foundation Programme, or their equivalents, of which at least, two shall be at Advanced Level, provided that such passes are not counted at both levels of the examination. For emphasis, credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Commerce and Economics are required
