Welcome to the Department of Sociology at Fountain University Osogbo. The Department focuses on all aspects of the social world. Ours research is grounded in |thorough understanding of sociological theories, international ethical principles and conducted with exacting methodological standard. Our particular areas of expertise include: Crime and Security, Sociology of Development, Rural Sociology, community policing, industrial crime, Immigration and Ethnicity, Health, Stratification, Work and Labour Markets, Political Sociology, The Sociology of Culture, and The Study of Social Networks and Community. The Department is a place for intellectual growth, a commitment to understanding major societal problems through research and publication, in-class teaching, and out-of-the-classroom experiences.

Candidates for admission into the five year degree programme should possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate or General Certificate of Education, NECO or their equivalents with at least five credit passes, obtained in not more than two sittings, which must include English Language and Mathematics and at least two other social science subjects.

Candidates for direct entry into the degree programme in sociology, should possess five credit passes in the General Certificate of Education, NECO, Senior Secondary School Certificate or their equivalents, with at least five credit passes, obtained in not more than two sittings, which must include English Language and Mathematics and at least two other social science subjects.

In addition, Candidates must possess Diploma in any of the following area: Industrial and Labour Relations, Marketing, General Administration, Social Development, Sociology, Public Administration, Personnel Management, Adult Education and Co-operative studies or any other relevant Diploma, NCE and HND in any courses with at least credit or pass as reviewed by the departmental admission committee.
