Fountain University, Osogbo, marked a significant milestone on Wednesday with the induction of its first set of registered nurses. The ceremony, held at the Amina Namadi Sambo Multipurpose Hall, celebrated the achievements of 37 pioneer students who successfully completed the five-year nursing program.
The induction ceremony, themed “Advancing the Nursing Profession and Shaping the Future of Nigeria’s Healthcare,” featured a keynote lecture by Nurse Abdul-Rauf Adeniji. A registered nurse, chartered public health professional, and midwife, Adeniji emphasized the vital role nursing plays in promoting health, preventing disease, and optimizing health outcomes.
Adeniji praised the inductees for their dedication and courage, likening their role to that of warriors on the frontlines of health crises. He also commended Fountain University for its contributions to the growth and development of the nursing profession.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayinka Ramota Karim congratulated the graduates on their achievement, noting that the university is committed to producing healthcare professionals who excel and drive transformative change in Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
Prof. Karim reminded the inductees that nursing is a noble calling built on integrity, compassion, and excellence. She urged them to prioritize the country’s interests and leverage their expertise to improve Nigeria’s healthcare system.
On her part, the acting Head of the Nursing Science Department, Dr. Moridiyat Adeyemo, described nursing as a dynamic career and a journey of service. She urged the newly inducted nurses to uphold the highest ethical standards, remain curious, and stay updated on advancements in the field.
The induction ceremony marked a significant milestone for Fountain University and the nursing profession in Nigeria. As the newly inducted nurses embark on their careers, they are poised to make a meaningful impact on the country’s healthcare landscape.
