Fountain University Osogbo (FUO) is proud to announce the arrival of Dr. Sara Pensa, a distinguished researcher from Cambridge University, in preparation for a free cervical cancer diagnosis workshop scheduled for next week.
Dr. Pensa and her research collaborator at Fountain University, Prof. Nusrah Afolabi-Balogun, were received by the Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, and other members of the Management Team in the Vice Chancellor’s Office earlier today.
The workshop, sponsored by the University of Cambridge, Cambridge Africa, and TReND in Africa, aims to provide free cervical cancer screening and diagnosis to women in the community. Dr. Pensa’s visit marks a significant milestone in the build-up to the event.
In her welcome address, the Vice Chancellor acknowledged the support the University has received from the University of Cambridge and other partner bodies, thanks to Dr. Pensa’s efforts.
“We are very excited and grateful for your collaboration and that of the University of Cambridge, TReND in Africa and Cambridge Africa in addressing the critical issue of cervical cancer in our community. You have left an indelible mark here at FUO, and we can only hope for more groundbreaking achievements through our sustained collaboration,” she said.
The free cervical cancer workshop, scheduled for September 9th to 13th, is open to selected researchers, academics, and postgraduate students around the world who had earlier registered. This initiative underscores FUO’s commitment to improving women’s health outcomes and addressing pressing health challenges through research, education, and community engagement.
