The Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim has joined other Muslim faithful across the world to commemorate this year’s World Hijab Day themed “Veiled in Strength”.
Prof. Karim noted that the theme of this year’s World Hijab day resonates deeply within the walls of Fountain University, where diversity and inclusivity are cherished values.
In her words, she said, “On this day, we recognize the courage and conviction of women who choose to wear the hijab, often in the face of prejudice and discrimination. We stand in solidarity with them, celebrating their contributions to our society and amplifying their voices.”
“The hijab, when worn with understanding and respect, fosters dignity, modesty, and self-respect. It is a source of empowerment for many women, enabling them to navigate the world with confidence and purpose. At Fountain University, we strive to create an environment where all individuals, regardless of their attire, feel valued, respected, and empowered to pursue their academic and personal aspirations.”
“As the Vice Chancellor, I encourage everyone to use this opportunity to learn more about the hijab and its significance. Let us engage in open and respectful dialogue, fostering understanding and appreciation for the diverse expressions of faith within our community.”
“May this World Hijab Day be a catalyst for greater understanding, tolerance, and inclusivity. May it inspire us to celebrate the strength and resilience of women who choose to wear the hijab, and may it pave the way for a more just and equitable society for all.”
The Vice Chancellor finally extended her warmest greetings to all members of Fountain University Community and the Muslim Community in general, especially the Muslim Women who adorn the Hijab.
