Fountain University Osogbo (FUO) kicked off the maiden edition of the FUO-NMI International Conference yesterday with a special technical session. The session, organized by the Centre for Research, Innovation and Technology (FUCRIT), featured researchers from Fountain University who presented their research findings, supported by a research grant from NASFAT.
The technical session showcased innovative research projects, including the Gold Team’s presentation on converting waste materials into fashionable items for reuse. Led by Prof. Mariam Dasola Adeoye, the team demonstrated the potential for sustainable practices in the conversion of waste materials from several NASFAT grounds into reusable items. Another team, led by Dr. Rasheed Adebiyi, presented on the adoption of SDGs actionable steps across all strata of NASFAT, highlighting the importance of sustainable development in the organization’s mission.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including the NASFAT President, Alh. Ayodeji AbdulWahid AbdulRauf, NASFAT Chief Missioner, Imam, Engr. Maruf Onike, and the Fountain University Management Team led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim. Other notable attendees included various Deans of Colleges, National Executives of NASFAT, and the Chairman of the FUO/NMI Conference Planning Committee, Prof. Nosiru Onibon.
In his opening remark, The NASFAT President, Alh. Ayodeji AbdulWahid AbdulRauf, emphasized the importance of research and innovation in driving sustainable development.
“As an organization, we are committed to supporting initiatives that promote knowledge sharing, innovation, and entrepreneurship. We are proud to support these research works and look forward to seeing the impact through the commercialization of the research outcomes on our communities” he said.
On her part, the Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, highlighted the university’s commitment to advancing research and innovation.
“At Fountain University, we recognize the critical role that research plays in driving economic growth, improving lives, and promoting sustainable development. We are proud to get the support of NASFAT to promote research and innovation, and we look forward to continuing this collaboration in the years to come.” she said.
The Centre for Research, Innovation and Technology at Fountain University was launched by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, upon her assumption in office last year. The centre aims to advance the dividend of research activities to NASFAT and the nation at large, promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.
The FUO-NMI International Conference is a significant event that brings together scholars, researchers, and stakeholders to discuss pressing global issues and promote peace and development. The conference is themed “Navigating the Dynamics of Religion, Science, Politics, Ethnicity, and Youth for Peace and Development” and features presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.
